The green evolution has been underway for many years among true believers and visionaries. Only recently have larger players in the field joined the revolution. Movies have been produced and products are labeled environment friendly. Many visionaries have long ago pledged unparalleled commitment to reduce carbon emissions. Global awareness is on the rise and more solutions are found for us not to change our life styles while reducing our carbon foot print. Most of us work hard to achieve a certain level of comfort in our lives, we’re not likely to give up our achievements that easily.
Technologies that have been around for decades are being reviewed and refined to overcome the perception of habitual creatures. New technologies have become the new standard. With states like California and countries like Australia actually banning the use of incandescent light bulbs several years ago gave a boost to such “new” technologies. A more efficient light source has taken the place of the traditional bulb.
The Light Emitting Diode or LED for short has it all it last almost a life time while being more that 30 times as power efficient. Reading these numbers makes you feel foolish when you buy another 100W traditional bulb. To light up your pool and land scape and of course your entire house for pennies a day is invigorating. Not having to replace light bulbs every year is a huge bonus. LED’s allow us to dial in exact colors when using digital controllers. Mood setting light hues with the touch of a finger and more over by using our own voice are nice features that can truly enhance your décor. Knowing that after the initial investment your recurring expenses are minimal is just sound “green” thinking.
The low voltage associated with the use of LED’s is appealing to its use in pools and landscaping, a safety factor that should never be overlooked. Being able to dim and color your lights to levels that attracts less bugs is a possible pleasant advantage.
As with any “new technology” pricing of the products has rapidly come down as major players have jumped on the bandwagon. This is good news for the consumers in more than one way.
