The Guyana Amazon Warriors turned up the heat at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Sunday night, defeating the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons by seven wickets to record their third consecutive victory in the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League.

The Warriors first dismantled the Falcons batting lineup, bowling them out for just 116 after the home side had elected to bat.

Fast bowler Shamar Joseph was the chief destroyer, claiming 3 for 22 in a fiery spell that repeatedly saw him breach the 150-kph mark. Veteran captain Imran Tahir also impressed with two wickets, while Khary Pierre helped keep the pressure on.

Amir Jangoo top-scored for the Falcons with 37, but the innings lost momentum after a promising 49 for 2 Power Play. Kusal Perera and Shadab Khan, who had played important roles in Saturday’s win over the Trinbago Knight Riders, failed to make an impact.

The Warriors also had a brief scare in the chase when Glenn Phillips and Matthew Nandu fell cheaply, but Shai Hope quickly settled the innings and took control.

Hope was joined by Shimron Hetmyer, and the pair attacked the Falcons bowling as Guyana raced toward the target. Hetmyer fell just short of a century partnership after edging behind to Jangoo immediately after hitting a six.

Hope remained composed, ensuring there were no further problems as the Warriors completed a convincing seven-wicket victory.

The Falcons had entered Sunday’s match full of confidence after defeating the Trinbago Knight Riders by five wickets the previous night. They will now look to bounce back when they close out their home leg against the Barbados Tridents on Tuesday.

The Warriors, meanwhile, will have a week to regroup before facing the Knight Riders in Port of Spain on August 31.
